Global Forum for Moderation ( in Brief )

1-1: Establishment

  • The idea of establishing the Global Forum for Moderation started in the First international Conference held in Amman , the Capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan , in 2004 .
  •  The decision to establish Global Forum for Moderation was made in the Second of the Global Conference in 2006.
  •  Outstanding Islamic figures from all parts of the world signed the establishment decision .
  •  The Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan agreed to host the Forum Headquarters in Amman in 2007 and to assign Amman as permanent headquarters of the Forum General Secretariat.

1-2:  Vision

Towards a world dominated by moderation and tolerance , free of extremism,  violence, exaggeration , and terrorism of all names and shapes.

1-3:  Mission

To focus on the true image of Islam , concerning thought , culture , and behavior, to spread the moderation message in understanding Islam as a religion and civilization , to spread the tolerance spirit and human debate, to propagate  the intellectual and culture identity of Islamic humanity , to refuse extremism concepts of all shapes, to have a world dominated by moderation depending on debate to reach its noble goals towards  a world free of extremism and terrorism.

1-4:   Forum Objectives

• To deep-root concepts of Islamic moderation as means to right thinking ,intellect production , practical actions among the nation's individuals and institutions , to enhance the nation's ability to play its major cultural role through moderation. 

 • To spread the Islamic human mission and introduce it to all nations and peoples. 

• To confront the nation's issues and to offer programs and   solutions   to overcome them through the Islamic moderation vision . 

• To empower all values of freedom , justice, and human   rights    and to defend them as a basic principle of Islam.

• To call for tolerance , debate , and violence rejection among nations and peoples through widening the circles of communication and debate with others. 

• To face and handle exaggeration phenomena in religion and deviation in text interpretation, according to   what is established by Islamic moderation, tolerance, and comprehensiveness : faith , sharee'a ,  worship, transactions , intellect , and behavior . 

• To strengthen the woman's role in community building through her participation in all activities. 

• To call for guaranteeing the rights of national minorities of special cultural ,ethnic , religious , and sectarian identities , provided by the welcoming tolerance Islamic environment. 

• To   strengthen  bonds of  cooperation , meeting ,  consultation ,with integration among all Islamic forces and personalities. 

•  To preserve the Islamic identity of the nation, to remain a moderate nation , witnessing over people , commanding what  is good , forbidding what is evil,  refraining from overaction and negligence  . 

• To unify the nation's forces, with all sects and trends, to unify scholars , efforts, and intellectual attitudes towards the major issues of the nation in order to confront challenges as one front , and to ban de-islamizing   a Muslim from the eight approved sects . 

• To  found   an   office to collect fatawa  that   unify    the   nation   from    a   moderation prospective and to work on spreading them. 

 

1-5:  Means

1. To connect with Muslim leaders , effective and  decision-making  figures ,and those able to steer public opinion wisely , to make people  stand in the general Islamic ranks and show   them the risks  on  the  nation ,  identity ,varied interests , and expected positive roles.

2. To debate with cultural , intellectual , and political trends  in  the   Islamic world , whoever they are , in order to crystallize Islamic trends and Islamic intellect .

3. To hold  conventions and seminars to discuss issues  related to Islam   and Muslims  and  common  human  issues  and  to  unify  the  Islamic   public opinion on such issues.

4. To publish   books ,   periodicals  , and pamphlets  which discuss differen issues that concern our nation and the world wide of today.

  5. Endowment income
  6. Any other Resources approved by the board of Trustees
